Typerna MR98L, MR98H och MR98HH är direktverkande och fjäderbelastade. Typerna MR98LD, MR98HD och MR98HHD använder extra tryckbelastning för att upprätthålla lättnadsskillnadstryck, baktryck eller för fjärrstyrning av justering av börvärdet.
