Südmo SensoTop 2.0
To ensure a smooth and reliable process flow in production plants, it is vital for plant operators to be informed of the valve position of the process valves at all times. The decision on suitable automation technology is therefore very important. The most costefficient solution for achieving this is to use external proximity sensors. This type of position feedback sensor does however face the operator with certain challenges: All risks of trapping limbs during valve switching operations must be excluded. To avoid this risk appropriate finger protection must be fitted on moving parts.
A structure of this type may adversely affect visual identification of the valve position and require corresponding edges, gap and undercuts on the cover. This makes cleaning the external surfaces more difficult. Pentair Südmo’s SensoTop Valve Position Feedback Unit is a further technical development to meet this challenge. Using inductive magnetic coils the feedback fields for the individual valve positions are defined and programmed at the press of a button. This leads to a considerable time saving during assembly and commissioning.
